Last update was at the start of Summer and here it is March already. Where does the time
go?
We had just sent samples of our bore water off for testing when I last updated our site. Well, I'm pleased to say that the
tests came back showing that our water easily complies with the Australian Drinking Water standard. So that's good news.
Our first real fruit harvest this year. Had loads of damsons - made damson jam. Lots of
apples, Cox Orange Pippins were lovely although got attacked by codling moth whereas the Granny Smiths seem to have not been
touched - tougher skins perhaps.
The fig tree never did spring to life - got a refund on that one, fortunately. Seems a lot of trees from that batch didn't
strike. Also we planted a couple of dozen blackcurrant 'twigs', that once they'd shown leaves and flowers became evident
that they are blackberries (the thornless, 'nice' kind, not the weed types). The nursery will replace them this coming winter.
Summer crops just about finished, had our first frost for the season, so that knocked off a lot of growing things.
